Lynch. - I Believe in Me

As I think I stated in my original lynch. post, these guys were signed to a major label at the beginning of the year (or earlier? I don't really follow them that avidly) and released their first major single Judgement. In June, they released their first major album: I Believe in Me. Interesting how they went from titles like "A Grateful Shit," "Shadows," and "Greedy Dead Souls" to a you-can-do-it styled nomenclature. Their style of music more or less stayed the same, however. Well, there was less variety in comparison to what little I remember from Shadows, but they still had a typical hard rock, with a bit of metal-core sprinkled in, music that many people enjoy. Just a note though: I'm not going to be doing a track-by track thing with this: while I did enjoy listening to it, I only really listen to it casually and didn't pick apart each track. For this style of music, I find that it defeats all the enjoyment I get out of it and much rather listen to it for fun, rather than super analytic listening (that I do for crappy indie bands that no one ever cared about... /hypocrite?) .

12. A GLEAM IN EYE

As I said, I really only listen to this album casually when I'm in the mood for lynch. . It really flows well and all of the tracks are similar enough that if you like one, you'll like the rest, but different enough to be able to tell when you're on a new song. I'll break the album down into different parts so you can decide which aspects to skip or listen to first.

There are a few slower songs on here. For example, "BEFORE YOU KNOW IT" has a lot of 9goats Black Out vibes, if you're into that. "This Coma" is more of a mid-tempo visual-kei song, mixed with radio friendly 80's pop rock elements. Aside from these two songs, the rest of the album is more of lynch.'s uptempo stuff.

With that being said, this album did bring a variety of songs of that nature to their discography. For example, "SCARLET" contains a lot of musical elements that lynch. has done so many times before, but mixed with them predominantly clean vocals and gave it a nice chorus in English, making it stand out a bit. Actually, out of all of the new songs here, this one gets stuck in my head the most. Other heavier songs include "-273.15℃," which is the album's rush song mixed with some jazzy influences hidden beneath all of the growling, and "TIAMAT": a heavier song that's probably the most metal-core thing they've ever done.

As for their singles, "JUDGEMENT," and "ALL THIS I'LL GIVE YOU" remain unchanged, but "A GLEAM IN EYE," has a different breakdown and middle passage. New songs "UNTIL I DIE" and "I BELIEVE IN ME" are within that same realm of music, so if you liked the singles then you'll like those tracks as well. Here's the promotional video:

Overall, I found this to be a really strong album. It's easy for me to listen and I found most of it to be very enjoyable. I actually bought the limited edition version of this album because it was the same exact price as the regular edition and boy, was I impressed. The packaging is beautiful! Glossy and reflective tinting, interesting book-like set up instead of a typical jewel casing, and even a protective box to put it in. Well worth the purchase, both aesthetically and musically. It really does mean a lot when there is some extra effort put into packaging, but most people find that irrelevant because they're self-entitled and feel all music should be downloaded and real money should be spent on other things, like faster computers to run their torrent clients.

[[New Costumes]]

Lynch. are rapidly leaving the visual-kei scene. Their current look is barely visual-kei at all (it's different from the one at the top of this article) except for the fact that Hizuki looks like he's trying to emulate Kiyoharu. That's probably why they are now signed to a major record label that isn't associated with the visual-kei scene (like PSC or something to that extent) and why their music is pretty different from normal visual-kei bands. Unfortunately, you can't call them "non-visual" just yet: they're still heavily associated with the scene and tour with bands who are VK. Welcome to the magical world of logistics~~~~~~. I'd say by the time their next album drops, it'll be common practice to not consider them visual anymore.
